I'm by no means knowledgable in 3D packages, so in terms of construction, I have no idea if it's a good/complex render or not. As an image in its own right, I think it's reaaly good. The green haze is nice, as is the bright horizon line.

I have only dabled in Bryce so I can not offer any technical help. As far as the image goes I think it has good composition, nice to see the mountain not smack dab in the center.
Colour and texture is nice, but overall I find it lifeless and without action. Of course for this particular scene maybe that is good. It depends on what you are trying to communicate about this mountain or island.
I think in order to critque this type of work people would need a bit more info as to what you are trying to accomplish. I know when I played with Bryce I just tried to make 'cool' looking landscapes, most of course looked like they were from another planet.
Try messaging Siouxie, I know she has a great image in the members gallery that I think was created with bryce and poser. She may be able to give better advice.

Hey TCD
I think they're sweet, I like the second one the most. The water in both looks very realiatic. Awesome job.
Just a thought
In the first one. You could make a whole other image if you lost the island and the water, copied from the horizon line up, and inverted it below the existing horizon, I think it would look like a supernova explosion.

thx burndog :)
ok TCD, as for the second picture, it would be ok for a fantasy image so far, but not for a real image. The water ist to smooth, if you see real pictures of the sea, water always has some waves you can really see, especially near the shore (coast). The mountain in the back ist to round at the edges. The texture of the mountain seems to painted. You should try to figure out how to use bump maps in bryce, this would help with the position of the texture.
here is an image where you can see what i mean by bumpmaps
