View Full Version : Share Your Wisdom...
Here's 2 revelations I've made...
Clients normally don't have as high a standard about art and design as we do. We'll kill ourselves redesigning and putting out a fabulous site when, in fact, the client would have been a lot happier with something simple that was completed quickly and efficiently.
In my signature you'll notice an old saying "Running water never goes stale". Bruce Lee used this metaphor when describing his training habits and body conditioning. If the body isn't used, it grows old and stale and muscles may enter a state of atrophy. After seeing that interview, I try to participate in some kind of physical activity each day to keep myself in good shape. This is especially important for all the programmers, designers and others that sit all day working.
So got any words of wisdom to share?

1) Never mention something you're unhappy with to a client. If you don't mention it, they'll never see it.
2) Never argue with a man holding a chainsaw (don't ask)
3) Do NOT try to explain color management to a new Photoshop user if all they want to do is play.
4) Make certain a user understands what a hard drive is and how it's different from RAM before trying to teach them an application.
5) Code pHP files independent of other files first and test them. Pull server variables (like dates) and print them to page then match your variables to that information. Every server will pull some server variables differently.

Heh, last time I tried that Dave, I didn't sleep for 78hrs and ended up divorced. ;)
'Don't start an argument just before bedtime.'
'When turning a light on in the dark, DON'T look at what you're doing.'
'When freezing cold, concentrate on the back of your mouth, that's always warm.'
'Don't use a 'z' when an 's' will do.'

PDG- I love that quote btw! I totally agree with you about the dangers of our butts getting too big. I can't stand sitting for too long. That's why I made a standing desk at work. It's high enough to stand at, or I can pull up a stool to sit. Crank up the good beats and get those hips movin'!

Wear a warm hat and warm boots to stay warm in winter.

Dude! I have the exact same setup at home! I built a stand-up desk out of wood and stained it Blue and Orange. Then I put a frosted piece of glass on top. Now it seems like I get 3 times the work done and I'm always walking around and staying busy. I'll never go back! :cool2:
That's crazy, man! We're on the same page!
Yeah, I hear ya! I get way more work done for sure! It's easy to lounge back in your chair when you hit a creative slump. Standing keeps me way more awake and alert!

1- Two wrongs don't make a right....but three lefts do.
2- Never say "I could care less" when you actually mean "I couldn't care less"

I TOTALLY agree! If you could care less, then it means you do actually care a little bit.
If you couldn't, then you've lost all units of care in your Care Bank.
Thanks for putting that out there TC. My sentiments exactly!

I would have a tough time standing all day, although my back and shoulders would probably love me for it.
