looking for short-cut

Many times when I am close-cropping to an object on its own layer, I will create a mask and then use the pen tool. After drawing my path I go to the paths pallette, creat a selection, then go back to the mask in the layers pallette and and fill with my deletion colour (black in my case).

Is there a shortcut available to allow me not to have to switch back and forth between palettes.

You don't need to go to the paths palette to create a selection, just press CTRL/CMD+Enter.
