Is rank in a contest determinded by the average vote you recieved, or by how many points you scored in all? I think it should most definatly be determined by what the average score you recieved is. (as long as people are voting fairly, of coarse.)

Right now it's determined by total score received. We plan to eventually change it to a different voting system...but that'll come with more site updates.
And...FYI...right now the majority of voters are doing a fantastic job of voting. They're voting for all entries, and judging them all fairly. Great job everyone!

Can something be done to draw peoples attention to contests in the voting stage .... flash the "Vote Now" bit or make the text larger .....

The contests do show that they are in voting. We had several voters that normally vote in the contests that didn't vote in the Genetic Mutations contest. As much as I would love to have 100 voters per contest, we're still a very small and growing site. We have regulars, and then we have people who vote occasionally. Aside from making the contest stages visible on the home page, we can't physically drag people in to vote. We just ask that everyone be a little patient. Knowing that a lot of you folks have come from a much larger and older site, it's understandable to want all the things that they have...now! We aren't the other site, we're Pixel Addiction. We may be small, but we're growing. We may not have a million registered members, but the members that we do have I'm proud to have here. We'll grow...our contests will draw more people....more entries....more voters. We just can't make it all happen instantaneously. It's why we work so hard to make improvements and upgrades to the site.
I hope everyone understands...and I hope everyone knows how much we value all of you here. :)

Geez! That's only about ten points above the lowest scoreing entery (me). So I guess I don't have to feel so ripped anymore considering I vote high and nice for other people. But because of that, I have screwed myself on more than one accasion..

If you vote fairly, it usually knocks you down a few spots. But it all works out in the end. We've all been there...moving others above us by voting. It's what happens...but in the end, the best entry wins. That's all that matters. :)
