I've been here for ages it seems, but haven't posted a pic.
So better come out from under my rock :p
Nothing much to say about me other than I'm and ex teacher and am currently a nanny/office worker of sorts....
Live downunder in a lil countyish town and in my spare time like to play with Photoshop and chat with other fellow PS addicts.
And what better place to do both than at PA :) :)
Well, ladies like you should not be hiding under rocks!
Nice to meet you at last macwithfries :) :flowers:

Figured I'd pop something in here since everyone else is sharing. I'm 46 and living with my wife, daughter (MindGraph Jr. age 5 hangin with me in pic)and 2 great stepkids in Georgia. We moved here about 3 yrs. ago. I originated in the Pocono Mtns. of Pennsylvania and lived in Connecticut, North Carolina and now Georgia. People joke that I'm working my way to my retirement home in Florida ( See map if ya don't get it). I am in the printing business now but trying to get my own design company off the ground and work for me! Totally addicted to photoshop but also love playing around with Illustrator as well. More fun stuff in photoshop though. Love these sites and really having a great time so far.
Ok....that's my life....let's go play ;}
Howdy Mindgraph nice to meet you and your lovely daughter.

Well you all ready know what I look like from my avatar, so I'll just fill in around the edges. The wife and I have three boys, 18, 14, & 11. Two cats, Dopey and Sierra(where the Sierrakitten comes from) and two fish tanks.
I did just short of 21 years in the Air Force, I was supposed to get out in Nov 01 but 9/11 cost me an extra 8 months.
We are just west of Oxford in the UK, we came here so the wife can take care of her mother who is a bit infirm.
I've been an amateur photographer for about 20 years and first got interested in photoshop type stuff in 93. I worked computer maintenance and networks and one of the jobs we had was to support the base photographers and graphics people. (Sorry in advance, but I'm useless with Mac advice, I haven't touched one since 97.)
Currently I'm working as sort of a computer maintenance support person and doing builds and upgrades on the side. I recently (finally) managed to get a copy of photoshop and am trying to get to grips with all of it.
I appologize in advance for my typing, I use to type about 85wpm but I'm getting arthritic in my old age. If I make a comment on an image or don't make sense on a post, please just re-read it and take into consideration that it may be just the meds messing things up....:-)

Hello, My name is Brian.
I was just reading that "Serial Killers don't tell people that they are serial killers... but may leave subtle hints of suggetive though elusive remarks if they really want to get caught".
I'm a professional Infantry soldier of 22 years, and enjoy nature and wandering alone into the woods to the point of disorientation and beyond, then trying to ind my way out.
I like cute little furry animals, thought squirrels don't have much meat on them, and can sometimes taste a bit to gamey.
and then killing them all? :D

I have a question... :)
Notice I didn't say: "Can I ask a question?", cause that would have been my question I guess.
Are folks making their own animated smileys on this site?
If not... why not?
If we had an animated smiley competition, but everyone wins, and pixel addiction collects, packages and sells the collection to some visual mail company or something, awarding them with cash sales, and us with a share of points (if anyone would buy them), that would be pretty cool. :)

Brian
Good question (wrong place to ask it but what the heck we're laid back and pleasantly drunk here for the most part).
The contests area will not allow animations at this time is the main reason I guess but I think the bigger reason was no one had thought of it! :)

Hey Brian! "forum mismatch"? Naw, I do it all the time! ;) Questions and thoughts pop into my head all the time in every place and direction! :D
Although I agree with Dave, that perhaps the question of avatars may have not of been thought of...I'll have to bow down from this question and leave it to the the real professionals!
Do remember Brian, no question shall go un-answered! (to the best of our ability) Ask away in any place where the wind blows you! However this sort of question regarding avatars and the like, may receive more response in the site questions or contest idea forums.
Just love your participation and questions! :)

Well, I don't really know how to go about introducing myself so I'll improvise a little... Hi everyone. My name is Maggie. I'm an alcholic. Naw, just kidding. I'm 52 yrs. old and semi-retired. Am married with 2 children and 3 step-children. Yours, mine but no ours :) We have 16 grandchildren, already! Oh yeah, my hubby is George. We lived in Grande Prairie, AB for years but moved to Manitoba about 5 yrs. ago. A nasty heart problem disabled hubby, hence the move and hubby is doing great. It really is nice here though; quiet, just what this old fart likes :)
I have been repairing and manipulating old b&w photos for about 12 years and have been photoshopping online for about 2 - 3 years. Always learning... :) I wish I'd have taken the time earlier to receive some formal graphics training, but maybe if I live long enough, I can learn from others who have. I live in a rural area and we are lucky enough to have a post office, a filling station and a store; but I don't care, we have DSL Yaaaaaaaay! :)
Okay, enough for now. If you want to know any sordid details you can pm me :)
Oooh someone my own age to play with! YAY!!!!!!!! Thank you Bob! :D
Hi Maggie welcome to [pa] I hope you have lots of fun and maybe some excitement as well.

Nice to meet you Maggie! We're so glad you've joined our little family. I hope health-wise all goes well for you. We live in a fairly rural area (although that's changing quickly). My husband continuously tells me when we retire we are going to a place called Denio (I call it Denial). In fact we might buy the town (Gas Station-Grocery Store combo) Living will be simple, easy care, one room house, dirt floor - that way when the wind blows off of the desert through the glassless open windows. The dust won't show :)
All I can say, is, I hope he is kidding ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome Dave. Should I be worried about you? You crave someone to play with? :) We've talked before and I thank you for your help. So far I really like this place. Way better than other sites I've tried.
BTW I've changed my monitor and now am hoping to get some serious chopping done.
My monitor was way to dark and the settings were maxed out, so I traded with hubby.
The comments on the contest posts here are just great. You know, rather than someone just saying yay I like this or oh this isn't good. There have been people who mention the good stuff...like luminence, shading etc. Because of this I found out that my monitor is a piece of#^@&* How great can that be! It only took 3 yrs. to find out :) :) Guess you guys weren't around then tho...I'm sure glad you are now.

Hey Jaygre, I loved your silky post...so cute. I probably would have voted higher on it but if you browse the post to Dave (above) you will understand why I didn't. I'd like to apologize to you and everyone else who I voted too low for because of my not being able to view the posts properly. I really am sorry. :( I've gone back and looked at all the posts in every contest that I entered and/or voted on...boy what a difference!
So, your hubby wants you in Denial? :) :) Mine threatened me with *de Nile*, well, a hole in a river bank anyway. A dirt floor for sure but really damp! Of course I wouldn't have the dust problem that you would have to endure. Oh but mold and moss. Jeeeez we just can't win. There's got to be a happy medium.:) Thanks for the welcome, Jaygre. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna like it here.
Hi Silky! I'm glad to see that you're up and about. I was reading that you had had an accident. I'll bet you're not the hissy baby that Bernie made you out to be! :)
Yeah, I'm hoping that my monitor exchange will make a difference. I'm sure it will. Actually, my hubby gave his up fairly willingly...surprisiingly willingly! :) Maybe he was feeling guilty about have the new computer. Or, maybe he just knew who does the cooking in this house. :) :) Anyway, I get good feedback on my posts here, unlike some other sites where I've hung out. If it weren't for the people here, I would never have known about my monitor. I went back and viewed some of my older pictures and they are just horrid compared to how they appeared on my monitor.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to welcome me. Take care of yourself...not too much excertion! :)

Just so you know...if you're replying to posts in the forum and reply to each post individually, one right after the next, it will put all your replies into one post. I saves on database space. You end up with one post with all your replies, instead of 5 separate posts. :) It's a little confusing at first, but you'll get the hang of it. :D

It takes a LONG time to read through all these. But it's great to put a face and a bio to the names I see in the postings -- as well as the artwork I enjoy seeing.
So...here's mine.
I've run a special events company in Western Canada ("fantasy" casinos and game shows and medieval feasts, murder mysteries...stuff like that) since 1984. Before that I was a reporter for twelve years-- primarily for radio.
I also make a good chunk of my income doing freelance magic for trade shows, children and corporate events. I have Microsoft certification to work in Access...and have freelanced databases, PowerPoint as well as some very limited Photoshop work. Hope to do more in the future.
My best beloved and I were married in a medieval theme wedding on the same day that a tornado devastated our city (The newspapers called it BLACK FRIDAY...but at least I have no problem remembering my anniversary....) in 1984.
We do a LOT of travelling -- and have just put the finishing touches on a Dream Trip through Greece, Italy and Turkey for September...and have already started counting the sleeps.
My wife (the actual photographer in the family) picked up a small Nikon about two years ago. It came with a copy of Elements 2...and I was HOOKED. Love the whole process of Photoshop. I have been fascinated with it since. Graduated to CS and then finally CS2....and am already blessed with wonderful grandchildren (8 to be exact) -- most of whom happily pose.
Anyway...I am delighted to be a member here. My avatar is my pic...here's another one. The other picture is me and one of my grandchildren, Lael (Hebrew meaning "of God").

Brian W thought you all didn't have enough competition, so he brought me in to make your lives miserable. Be warned that I shall be taking every top trophy, so from now on - fight amongst yourselves for 2nd and 3rd.
My name is Kathy and I'm old. I dress in vertical stripes so people think I'm a 5'9", 47# runway model. I use PSP9 and CS2 so that people think I'm the world's best photographer.
This image of me was created for a self-photograph contest. I always said Hell would freeze over before I would deliberately stand in front of the lens (accident shooting of body parts is a different story!) This was a momentary aberation.

Gee Kathy...
I was just a-joshin' you about the "girl" thing. It looked to me like you were someone who could take a wee bit of kidding.
You have NO problem speaking your mind. It was...ummm...irony....yeah. That's it. It was IRONY. With just a friendly dash of sarcasm.
Consider yourself presented with a flower, and an apologetic smile.
You are most welcome! I enjoy your posts. Now as for the competition entries you are gonna come up with..........

.... what am I to do with you?
Well, my dungeon is full, but I could make a spot for you in the Attic I guess.
... You almost made my X-Mas card list this year, I was down to ten finalists, (the other nine went to my Dungeon).
Remember the Kool-Aid incident in Jones Town? Never mind... :)

I posted a small intro of myself on my I'm-a-Newbie thread, but thought I'd add some more here.
I found this site just by looking for tutorials one day and really admire the quality of work that's displayed. It's been a long time since I've been challenged in Photoshop, so I'm really looking forward to doing some contests. I've entered two now. ;)
Right now, I work for my family business. It's my sister's company (a spin-off of my Dad's, actually). We sell bags, gift wrap, tissue paper, boxes, ribbon, etc. When you go buy something in a store and take that item home in a bag, we sell the stores that bag.
At first, I was just 'customer service' at work, but in the last two years, my job has morphed into much more than that. I'm designing our website and teaching myself FrontPage as I go. Granted, I hate FrontPage, but the software was bought for me, so who am I to complain. I'm also learning HTML as I go. I did not take the pics on any of the sites, but I have been the one to manipulate and adjust every single one of them. Some two or three times.
Retail Packaging Outlet (www.retailpkg.com) -- my sister's company
T & J Adventures (www.tandjadventures.com) -- my Dad's company (he is the manufacturer rep of these products who then sells them to smaller companies like my sister and she then sells them to the stores)
CoalMine Music (www.coalminemusic.com) -- my BIL and his brother's new music business
I've done all three of these sites. The T&J site is absolutely in the middle of being changed. I'm about half-way done. The Retail Packaging Outlet site is a constant revision. If I have the time, I'll work on it.
At work, I also use Illustrator almost every day. I'm either creating, adjusting, resizing and/or setting up proofs that have our customer's logos for their packaging (bags, boxes, labels, hang-tags, etc). I took a class on Illustrator in the fall to refresh my memory on it all.
But, I love Photoshop, it's by far my fave program. I really CS2, which is what I use. I'm learning the other programs as I find the time. But that's a rare commodity these days. Time, that is. ;) I've been using Photoshop since my freshman year in college (starting Fall of 96). Some years more than others, but I've always at least played around.
And there's my long-winded intro. LOL Oh yeah, and here's our family website which I have not had the time to update in about 7 months except for adding 3 videos in the last couple weeks. The E Family (www.eggertfam.com)
Peace,
Brooke

Hi Brooke, nice to see you again, and learn a little more about you. You are a busy one, and how wonderful to see your sites. Big demand for crafts and packaging. I too, am trying to do a FrontPage web site, and you're right, it is awful, but I haven't delved into it too much yet ;) Photoshop is terribly addicting, isn't it, but combined with Illustrator, it gives you a real spread for your design work. Again, thanks for telling us a little more about yourself, and am anxious to see some of your work in the contests :)

Thanks :D
I took the 'laid-back' approach with FrontPage for two years before I finally wisened up and realized that there is more out there. LOL Which is why I'm trying to learn html code instead of just designing in FrontPage. I can't stand Microsoft sometimes.
Using a combination of Illustrator and Photshop now if just mind-blowing sometimes. It either makes me so frustrated because I want to do something and can't figure it out or I get up and do a happy dance because I finally figured something out. LOL My 4-year-old knows the "Mama figured it out" dance now too. ;)
Nice Bio Brooke ... you sure you've got any spare time? :)

A wee bit of kidding? A WEE bit of kidding???!!!! You dump on girls everywhere and call it a wee bit of KIDDING???!!!!!
Sorry, David - I just can't keep this up with a straight face! It reminded so much of the throw-away comment my best friend would end with - before running out the door, I couldn't resist tweaking you too!
I'm old enough to think being called a girl is like waaaaaaaaayyyyy cool! So, my dear new friend - a WHOLE bouquet of flowers for you! :-)))))))) Kat
Uhhhh, David - have I groveled enough to get you to protect me from Brian? He is soooooooooo scary!
Brooke - Neat bio. I can just picture you doing the "Mama-figured-it-out Dance!" (All that thick blue hair swirling around and around - what an visual!)
Here's an idea: Have the kid learn HTML (my old professor told us that HTML was so easy even a child could do it!) Seriously, I've found some great sites for learning it and have a zillion How-to books if you want more info. Go ahead and PM or email me -I'll be glad to send you links, etc. I need something to fill MY spare time - I slept almost 4 hours the other night (what a waste of time!) Kat

I like Front Page, it's the only software that actually makes me feel smart. :)
Protection not needed, I found my meds. :)
Girls? If there weren't girls there wouldn't be guys, and visa versa... be nice to each other. Cloning is boring and somehow unnatural.
David, can you imagine having to live with someone like you, let alone a whole planet of Ewe's? (Apparently it works with sheep).
I learned Front Page without the zillion "How to" books, but bought the books any way. I use several books to elevate my monitor, but after sleeping with a couple books under my pillow for several weeks, have yet to absorb anything. Do you think I need to start reading them? Does breaking the binding devalue their resale potential?
Am I Really Soooooo scare????? Am I? Am I? Please?
I like daisey's because they remind me of eggs sunny side up. Where's my flowers? :(
Brian.
P.S. I tried Dreamweaver once, and it made me feel dumb.
I love Coffee Cup software www.coffeecup.com because the support http://www.w3.org/ and because I bought their "Big Cup" when the company first started in the 90's, and at that time, they offered free upgrades for life. I'm still getting them. Plus they allow for code view and visual editing, (like front page).

I did the same thing with FrontPage, learning as I go. I started off just using the Design mode and now I'm using "Code" or "Split". After a lot of research on the web, I've finally figured osme things out that have been bugging me for at least a year now. It's amazing what 20 mins of googling will do for you.
As for absorbing the books, you need to wet the pages and stick them to your forehead overnight. That should do it. ;)

Hi all... thought this was a good place to start. :)
I got pointed here by Dave, from another, unrelated forum, when I asked about tattoo designs - and I must say, I'm immensely impressed already, and I haven't even started browsing the pages here.
Okay... I'm 24, living in Oslo, Norway. I work in security mainly, but I've started on a Bachelor in photography. In somewhat under a year's time, I'll be a "Multimedia Designer", and that's nice, I suppose. ;) I've been taking pictures for almost ten years, but just started learning PS and the other Adobe thingies, so that's pretty slow going at the moment. I'm hoping I'll pick up on it in a relatively short time.
Anyway, I'll post a picture of me here, as that seems to be the norm... ;)

Ok, that took a while to look at all those pages, good though now I have faces to the names. So here's me, 50 something, a frenchmen living in Vancouver,B.C., Canada. At 19 I visited a friend of mine who had a darkroom and that was it, next day I purchased a camera and been carrying one around since. I purchased my first digital camera 4-5 years ago and Photoshop soon after. I'm most definitly a pixel addict.

@Northerner - I'll let you work it out on the question mark and yeah I know it's unbelievable based on other site experiences but true (ish) about the admins ....:)

Ok, and now, finally, some pics of us. These were all taken last weekend on Father's Day. The first is just a bigger one of my av. Excuse the awful quality, the pic was SUPER blurry (my husband moved while snapping the picture :P). I had to sharpen it, but it was a little more than could be saved.

Hi everyone
I hope I did this right here's a pic of me and my little guy who is 3 years old Rory
I have been photoshopping for a little over 2 years now. I like the fall and winter so this time of the year is great!! I hope to have a brand new Canon Digital Rebel Xti ( 400D ) camera next month if everything works out.
People ask me all the time who are my influences in my art and its hard to say, I would allways say anyone that goes out of their way to not try and copy and do the same old thing. I love inovation!!
I have been a big fan of the Toronto band RUSH for since I was 16. I recently found a RUSH site where the members of the band talked about the artwork on each cover and the main artist that helped create most of the covers is Hugh Syme. I then went looking for his site and was pleasently pleased to see his other works. I now know that he is defenitely one of my main influneces.
I have been lucky enough to have won about $700 in prizes in a few PhotoShop Contests on the net. I have also won or placed in several fun contests.
One of my images " Gothic LoveLetter " was printed in Issue #19 of Advanced PhotoShop.
http://www.pbase.com/snowdog/image/59439168
Once again Advanced PhotoShop asked to print one of my newer images in the just published issue #22 . I call it " Never More ". I used a Toucan I heavily modified to create it. Poe's original poem is a classic and featured a Raven.
http://www.pbase.com/snowdog/image/63940708
PhotoShop Creative's editor Jo, asked to do a reader's profile on me and it should be in the issue that comes out at the end of Sept /06. The profile faeatures a small interview, some of my other images and a small tutorial.
For a living I do all the electrical and eletronics testing on the railcars and subway cars we manufacture at Bombardier , Canada. We build cars for cities around the world.

Nice to meet the real Snowdog, love the images!

Hi, I'm Kim (better known around the net as SqueakeyCat)
I like designing Web Sites, but, have one major setback that I have to "leap" over to get past it, and that is FRAMES & JAVA (and majorly, the newer HTML codes that are being brought out).
As for Pixel work, I have tried using editors & other programs that are "supposed" to "teach" ppl how to work with pixels, and have been unable to work them right.
I did try one experiment with a "photo merge" program (sry don't remember name off hand cuz I haven't been to bed in more than 28 hrs), and I do have to say I was surprised at how easy it was to get the 2 pictures to merge and make a third pic. You can c the merged pictures at http://squeakeycat.bravehost.com/UCLP_index.htm, this is the Yahoo Pool league that I belong to.
Now, b4 ne1 gets the idea that this page is FRAMED, I'd like to inform you, that it is NOT framed, it is done with the use of tables & a template. As u can c, I also am not finished with it. The pic that I am referencing above, is the "background" for the page. The HA wanted something that could represent the universe (per the name), and this was the closest I could come, was to combine the 2 pics to make one pic, that is tiled for the background.
I have another site that I did, but, with the way that it was done, I can't put it on my bravenet site, as the "banner ads" that bravenet puts at the top of their "free" hosted sites for some reason have a problem with "my site" the way it is put together. So, I am working to "update" my original site that I started on Bravenet, and will put that link in here somewhere.
Back to me now, there is a special meaning behind my name. I had a kitten once, that when she tried to meow, instead of meowing, she "squeaked" like a mouse. So, she started being called "SqueakeyCat". She only lived to be 6 months old, and we have no clue as to the reason that she died, as she was extremely healthy (dr's words) for her age. Dr said she had never seen a healthier cat or kitten. You don't c this name listed in my YIM name, bcuz someone decided that they were going to "crack" the pw on it 2 christmas' ago. You can still find the profile on it in yahoo, so whoever it was (i can almost guess on who, but won't) that decided they needed my name more than I did, is apparently still using it.
As for my web design, I have been told by some, that I do great work (reason for trying to find a "low cost" site for my "personal" site), but without being able to show it off a.t.m., I can't link it here for you to see & judge for urself.
I am also going to ask a question here, as I'm not really sure where to ask it at yet in the forums. I have some "buttons" that have either a white or black background on them. My problem with this is that "I don't know how to make a transparent background" on them so that I can use them on my pages. I also don't know how to make it "state" on the pages that I make, that they r copyrighted by me, except for "typing" it all on the bottom of the pages. So, any help would b appreciated on that part.
As for a picture of me, u will have to wait like ev1 else, as I am "still" waiting for a friend of mine to b able to come over to take the pic. But for right now, u can c my kitties in my avatar.
Too much typed already, so I will post this b4 I get TOO carried away.
Kim

Hello all,
My Name is... erm, OK Tr3art's a new name for an old (no comments please 35 ain't that old) face. I am the 4th regeneration of a character by the name of Raphael (sorry too much Doctor Who recently, my lad is WAY too into it).
In case you haven't read far enough back in this thread, I used to play around here way, way back, when the site was but a bairn. Due to mysterious goings-ons and a severely paranoid and tetchy (now) ex. PA and I parted company.
My life has been very much a rollercoaster over the last couple years and I've not had time to spend on such luxuries as PA represents. Hopefully things have settled down now enough to again spend quality time in such pleasures.
Bio: I am 35, I live alone with my 5 1/2 year old son Connor who's mother passed away last year (long after we'd split up, but gives you some idea of what I meant by rollercoaster). I now work as a reprographics operator for a company that produces all the packaging for Wrigley's gum in Europe, The Middle East, Africa and India. (That's a LOT of languages and alphabets, believe me.) In my job I now primarily use Illustrator with Esko Deskpack, but I have worked in the newspaper, advertising and design industries for tooo many years before that using Photoshop, QuarkXPress, InDesign etc.
My real love (digitally) is Photoshop painting, I produce portraits and other stuff for the sheer pleasure of it.
I'm a Mod over at photoshoptechniques.com with Scott, hence how I came to be here in the first place.
My new user name comes from my website address (www.tr3-art.com) which in turn comes from my nickname which is 'Tre', pronounced 'tree' not 'tray', hence the '3'.
If you're not asleep already and want to know more, feel free to ask.
Here's my mug:
Hi Tr3art and welcome (back) to PA. Any fan of The Doctor is okay by me! :)

Hey Tr3, welcome back I kind of wondered what had become of you...nice site by the way, very impressive...just one nit-pick, when you click on the thumbnails of the main images the new window is only about 50pixels high and you have to maximize to see the image. not sure if it is just my browser (firefox), but thought I would mention it.

Hey dawg!
s'good to be back matey :)
Don't know what's up with the site, it's been fine for me and others in... Mac OSX 10.4: Safari, Firefox2, IE5.5. Windows XP: IE6+, Firefox2. Only browser I've seen anything like that in was Opera 8.5 on the Mac, 9.2 seems to be ok though.
Now you've got me puzzled. Hmmmm.
Didn't get that problem myself .... "Pixel, The Cat Who Walks Through Walls" .... Hmmmm Robert Heinlein if memory serves me well?
Tr3art

Your memory serves you perfectly Dave, that picture was my homage to the greatest Sci-Fi author I've ever read, and I intended it to be a cover of said book :)
I've always wanted a cat called 'Pixel' and a dog called 'Vector'
Also, I once lived with a Cat who walked through walls but it was a ghost so cheated really LOL.
that picture was my homage to the greatest Sci-Fi author I've ever read
Can't have read Larry Niven then :) (Or have you got a drawing of a Pierson's Puppeteer (http://www.larryniven.org/puppeteer/)?)
Though I must admit I enjoyed reading of Lazarus Long's adventures, until I realised the point the author was trying to make. But that's something else entirely.

LOL, I started reading a Niven book many many moons ago Dave but I put it down and never picked it up again, I may have to have another try, on your recommendation. I always found LL annoying, my Favourite Heinlein book was always 'I Will Fear No Evil' but that's because I've been a dirty old man since I was 12 ;)

(small window near top of screen) I guess it is no big deal if others have no problem. I doubt it is possible to design for every single browser version and setup.

Hi all. You'll have to excuse the name nuckingfuts as it was awarded to me many years ago whilst still at art college in-between binge drinking and the rest. If you re-arrange some of the letters you'll see what I mean.
Go figure.
Anyway I started illustrating way back in the eighties doing airbrush posters and prints for companies like Athena, Verkerke, and Scandecor. My most famous piece around at that time was entitled Stiletto and was once used in the movie Bound with Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly.
I am now a full blown PhotoShop pixel addict and hung up my airbrush many years ago. I'm originally from the UK but now live in the US.
Since then it's been feast or famine and I now license my work to appear on products such as Jigsaw puzzles, Garden flags, Cards, Posters, Prints etc.
Please feel free to visit my website:
http://www.watsonartlicensing.com
I do hope to give some well earned advice on licensing in the future including how lucrative it can be, plus the unfortunate darker side of it all as well.
As it is a busy time for me right now I won't be afforded the luxury of dropping in on a daily basis, but will endeavour to participate as and when I can.
In the meantime however I wish all of you the very best with you're ventures in the arts. Let's face it though, it's a bloody minefield out there.
Cheers
Mal
Hi nuckingfuts aka Michael, that's one scary resume! Welcome to [pa] I hope you find some time to join in our contests, they're fun and good for sharpening those rusty skills to a perfect edge.

Ooops, awe struck by your artwork. Is that Coast Guard (http://community-2.webtv.net/watsonartlicensing/WatsonArtLicensing/page6.html) a digital painting? WOW!

Hi again,
YUP!........the Coast Guard piece is semi-digital as is all my stuff. I scan a rough sketch into PhotoShop and then manipulate it digitally.
Years of bloody practice I guess.
Cheers

Hey 3ple5ix ( Trip-L-6 ),
Great fun on board here! I've only been here a couple years, but love the opportunity to see what others with similar interests are doing and getting my feet wet in the process.
I find that other people's works are an inspiration to me, and ultimately affect how I see things, and do things in the future.
You'll really have to check out some of the User made tutorials under the Tutorial section. They're great and FREE. When you get to the bottom of the Tutorial Page, look for the tine "more" link. Lot's of buried treasure here!
As for the Time Limit on earth, Grin, the way I look at it is, since we're all carbon based lifeforms, there is no real Limit to the time we spend on earth, as we come from the earth, and return to it when we are done with our frame and flesh. Matter is neither created nor destroyed. Well, that's the optimists viewpoint.
As for our LIFE on earth, in present form, that remains to be determined, though I don't want to limit myself in any set fashion, as there are other worlds than these, and whose to say that we are Limited to but one. :)
From one member to another, Cheers and welcome aboard.

yep, bombing wall is what we "trouble maker - hard to communicate with - moody" youth , lol :) , call for some graffiti art, but my art more into some pics rather than text art..
ummmm, ok i'll try to post some of my work here...
and for some "limitation issues", what a great point of view, brian..
i myself even at my age some of my friends just believe in what they experienced with or something they can feel or something that people with glasses and white robes having IQ above 200 (i mean scientist..) saying, I believe in life after death. So i see my life on earth is limited - without feelin' any limit on my way enjoying life (everybody loves to have some fun, don't they? lol ) - and when the time is come, i have a new unlimited time....
Whew, i guess i talk (or type) too much..change the topic please, that limitation on life gets me goosebumps..I want to live long though :) ..

hello my name is Recover1227. its just a screen name ive been using for years and it just seems to stick around. my real name is colton and im currently going to school at Colorado State University-Pueblo. my major is art but im really bad at it. i love photography though but this school doesnt have a photography degree so thats why im stuck with an art degree. im from austin texas and miss it dearly. my biggest passions would be cars (mainly jeeps), photography and music. i use to play bass guitar but havent had the time to play for the past couple years. i dont really have a portrait of myself so ill post a picture of me driving the jeep for now. this was before a few current upgrades

Hello Michelle,
If you've been to the front page, you'll have noticed a whole bunch of different types of friendly contests. Photography, Photoshop, and illustrations are the meat of inspiration here at Pixeladdiction. I've only been a member for a couple of years, but the exposure to the art of others has definitely helped to broaden my creativity, and the member created tutorials selflessly shared under the tab of the same name have increased my understanding of tools withing photoshop and illustrator.
It's a friendly bunch here, and though there are no tangible prizes to be had, the rewards are measured in points awarded by your peers and comments provided by those same peers that acknowledge our progress and accomplishments as our abilities to produce creative works that best match the guidelines of each contest and mark our ever growing repository of talent.
Whatever your level, be sure to peruse the works of others, and see how they have tackled previous contests if for nothing less than the inspiration to begin your own works, and start entering the contests.
Because you are new to the site / community, don't feel you are restricted to the Beginner contests. Take on what you feel ready for, and be sure to dive into the ones that are going to be a challenge. Baptism by fire is a great way to get those creative juices flowing. :)
Cheers!

Hi Michelle and welcome to [pa]
I was beginning to think our new members never found this massive thread or were maybe too daunted by it's length, glad you did.
I think Brian has most eloquently (thanks Brian - your cheque is in the post :D ) covered everything you need to know and get started.
So what's your tartan? ... Hmmmm contest idea there :)
