I need some recommendations for PC screen capture software. Shareware prices are okay. I just need to point a collegue to something that will capture screen images at around 400% their normal size so they can be reduced and interpolated for print resolution. The standard print screen won't work as far as I know.
any ideas?

Anyone?? Bueller? Bueller?
I don't know of an app that can upsize res. The only thing I could recommend is pushing the actual monitor resolution as high as possible and doing a normal screen cap via Windows.

Try this Jolt, it's what I use. Reasonably priced too.

hmm, actually, not sure it will do the 400% thing, worth trying out though
Why has this thread only shown up now?
Not that I can help other than to say for screen grab images I use PSP7 ....
Jolt, I just looked in one of Scott Kelby's books and found something interesting. Although I normally don't like Scott Kelby, he claims that you can increase an image's size in Photoshop in 10% increments and the final larger image will be of identical quality. Absolutely no pixelation will occur. You will, however, have to create an action for that since it's kinda annoying to do over and over again.
Should I interject with a comment about increments of 10% being very difficult to work out when you get to 400%, if 400% is the exact number required?
Step 1) +10% = 110% of original
Step 2) +10% = 121% of original
Step 3) +10% = 132.1% of original
Step 4) +10% = errrrr I give up :)
Isn't this however a bit like compressing a sound file, if the data's not there then the quality goes down .... end of story. If the pixels aren't there in the first place, then increments only average every 10 pixels into 11 ..... therefore the higher the magnification the blurier you get ....
I guess the only thing to do is to try it out .... any volunteers?
First image was 150px wide, increased the second image in 10% steps until it was just over 600px wide, then had to reduce it to 550 to post here .....

Hmmm... k. Upsizing (grabbignt eh screen at 400%) is pretty common on a Mac. Guess PC's can't do that. I've found quite a few apps for screen grabs on a PC. I think SnagIt looked to be the biggest. Hopefully something will work or this guy.
This seems okay, it makes no reference to how much it can magnify though

I never did trust that Kelby character! ;)

You've got to use nearest neighbor interpolation I believe for that upsizign thing to work.
